A client in massage therapy practice in York recently observed that there are so many muscles in the human body.
There are 650 muscles in the human body. Many of the surface muscles are better known – such as the biceps, triceps, pectorals, latissimus dorsi, hamstrings and quadriceps. However, as well as the surface muscles, there are many deeper muscles. Massage can help to release the surface and deeper muscles.
For example, when massaging the back, it is possible to relieve tension in the surface and deeper muscles. The erector spinae lie deep in the back. and, by releasing them when they are tense, a lot of tension can be released.
