Complementary And Alternative Medicine (CAM) And The Medical Community
I have heard many views on complementary and alternative therapies (CAM). Despite all our advances in knowledge, nobody knows how the human body really works – as such, it is difficult to embrace or dismiss any notion without extensive test and research. The funding for this is hard to come by for CAM. It is getting less common for doctors from the conventional medical community to dismiss healing methods such as massage. This has to be partly because CAM has become so popular that there are many anecdotal cases of it giving great relief or even a cure to a medical condition which did not respond to conventional treatment. I have a lot of people coming to me in my massage therapy practice in York when conventional medicine has only been of very limited effectiveness.
