Martial arts are often a high contact sport. But they are also often very controlled, so the risk of injury can be minimised. However, as with everyone else, martial artists can benefit from regular massage.
One of the many insights I have had via my York based therapy practice is that, not only does massage help with flexibility, but also with one’s mental state. Greater flexibility and a clearer mind can lead to practice one’s chosen martial art to a more accomplished degree.
Of course, should injury occur, massage can aid with recovery. But massage can also help to prevent injury by allowing the martial artist to practice their particular discipline with more focus and bodily control.
