Theory Behind Oriental Massage 1

In Oriental medicine illness is viewed differently than it is from Western medicine. Disease are not named, but the of nature of an imbalance is identified. The aim is to restore balance and, with it, good health. The basis of Chinese medicine is the meridian system, through which chi – a type of energy – flows. To have good health there has to be a balance of yin and yang. Yang is often described as light, warm and exterior. Whereas yin is often described as dark, cold and interior. But they do not contradict each other. Instead they define each other – without one there would not be the other. When one it excessive, the other should be encouraged – as such, they alter and influence each other. This view of medicine is adhered to when massage is used.
